Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, absolutely! Just make sure to have a leash if we are going to be somewhere more public. I will actually be really upset with you if later I find out that you had an adorable puppy that you didn't bring with you!

How far in advance can I schedule with you?

For a couple’s session I can get you in as soon as next week, depending on my schedule. Most couples book their wedding between 6-12 months in advance, but I can sometimes fit people in as soon as 1-2 months. For elopements, we can plan something and get you married as soon as one month, as long as I have open dates.

I just need like 2 or 3 pictures, really. Can we just do like a quick 10 minute shoot for like 50 bucks?

Sorry, but no. I no longer offer mini sessions. I cannot give you my full and undivided artistic attention in that short of time. I believe every photo shoot is more than just photos, it’s an experience. The money you are paying me is an investment and I want you to know that I am giving you my all in the time we have together.

Can I have the RAW or unedited photos?

Absolutely not, never. You are hiring me because you trust me with capturing your story with my own personal touch, the way you see in the rest of my photos. I never have and never will release RAW files.

I have no clue what I am going to wear, can you help me?

Of course! Since my photography is mostly nature-based, I recommend wearing natural colors that will mesh well with our surroundings. White, cream, black, gray, tan, blue, green, and blush are all excellent colors to begin with. I don’t recommend wearing any neon colors because they will reflect poorly on your skin. I suggest that you bring multiple outfits with you and I will help put something together that will photograph well. Bring clothes that can be layered and accessories are always a plus! And you absolutely DO NOT need to go shopping unless you really want to. I would never turn anyone away for not being “fashionable” enough. Bring what is already in your closet and whatever you feel great in, and we will make magic!

Can I pick a location or do you choose for us?

If you guys have an area that means a lot to you or you just really love and can picture yourself in, then let’s go there. If you don’t necessarily care, then I will send you a few options to pick from!

When will my photos be done?

For a regular session, I take up to 4 weeks during busy season (May-November). For a wedding, I take anywhere between 6-8 weeks during busy season to deliver your gallery and an additional 4-6 weeks to deliver your album. This will also be in your contract. I am a busy wife and mom. So please do not text or message me before those marks to ask about your photos. I promise you, I am working so hard to get them done and add all the finishing touches so that they are perfect. I hand-edit every single image, and design the album by myself, both of which are very time-consuming. If I am nearing the end of that deadline and for some reason time has gotten away from me, I will always, always check in with you and let you know what is going on. I also always send sneak peeks within 72 hours of your session or wedding, so you’ll have something to hold onto while you wait for the rest. :)

How many photos will I get? How will I receive them?

I promise a minimum of 75 photos per hour I am hired. You will receive an online gallery via e-mail where you’ll have unlimited downloads of your high-resolution images.

I booked you because of Bob and Joe’s pictures! They are so beautiful and I hope mine look exactly like theirs! But I like photos that aren’t super warm, could you cool them down?

Listen... First thing, you need to scour my website and make sure you love the images you see. Like any healthy relationship, I need you to fully trust me. No matter what I do, your pictures will not look exactly like someone else’s, and you shouldn’t want them to. I hope the main reason that you’re hiring me is because my photos struck an emotional cord with you and not just because you think the way I edit is pretty. I’m flattered, but my editing style is constantly evolving. Seriously, it changes with every session. Every single session is completely different than the last because I’m photographing completely different people with different relationships. I edit based on scenery, weather, and mood. A few things you can always count on with my editing style are that I like to edit true to color, but a little warmer than what our eyes were actually seeing. If you don’t love your gallery or the way your photos are edited we can certainly have a discussion, but I have never had anyone complain.

Can you please photoshop me and make me appear skinnier and remove all my wrinkles?

Never will I ever photoshop someone to make them look like someone they are not. The only thing I remove in photos are temporary blemishes that will be gone next week. And hear me out, I have body image issues just like the next person, but I’m learning to embrace the stage I’m in so I can fully enjoy my life without picking apart every little part of my body in photos. It’s so hard, but my goal is to make you so comfortable during our shoot that you forget about the things you dislike about yourself. I want you to look at these photos and feel absolutely beautiful, just the way you are.

Can I have my deposit back if I cancel?

No, your deposit is non-refundable, per our contract. However, we can definitely reschedule within six months and that deposit will still apply to your balance. I am 100% sympathetic about having to reschedule because I understand that life happens and people get sick sometimes, so I’ll always work with you and find a perfect day as long as you are honest with me and respect my time as well. The only time I’ll return your deposit is if I’m the one who cancels for some reason and you choose not to reschedule.

Do you take family photos?

I initially started my photography career with families, but I only take a few each year now when I have time. Couples are where my love and passion lies, so that is what I focus my energy on. I also really love working with a few seniors every year!

Not only is Krystal a kind hearted person, but she is a natural talent behind the camera. She makes you feel comfortable and works really hard to get the photos you want. I am very shy and feel awkward behind a camera but she not only made me feel beautiful during my photo shoot, but she provided me with beautiful photos that I will be appreciative of forever. I will be a continuing client of hers and would definitely recommend her to anyone!
